Wrightsville Beach Weathers The Storm Of Hurricane Irene

south Lumina

Wrightsville Beach residents, home owners, vacationers, and town officials prepared for the worst, but were extremely thankful when the worst of Hurricane Irene passed by, sparing our beaches and homes. After Irene moved on we were treated to a beautiful Sunday.

The second half of the weekend was spent taking down boards and hurricane shutters, cleaning up debris in yards, and returning things to normal – as well as enjoying the gorgeous beach day. Surfers took advantage of large, clean waves, and beachgoers hunted for huge shells that washed up during the storm.

Though there are a few instances of damage and flooding across the island on the whole the impact of Hurricane Irene was relatively minor. Wrightsville Beach is open for business, and ready to send summer out in style during the long Labor Day Weekend. And of course though September 5th will mark the official end of the summer beach season, in Wrightsville Beach the warm weather is here to stay for several more weeks.

Plan a fall trip to our beautiful island and take a look at Wrightsville Beach real estate and think about making this your home. Make a call to Hardee Hunt and Williams to get started – 800-852-1605!
