What is The Loop in Wrightsville Beach NC?

If you’re a newcomer to Wrightsville Beach or the Wilmington, NC area, you’ve probably heard people refer to “the loop” and wondered what in the world they’re talking about. The John Nesbitt Loop (just “the loop,” to locals) is a popular trail located in Wrightsville Beach.

This 2.45-mile stretch begins at Causeway Drive/U.S. Hwy. 76, wraps around North Lumina Drive, bends along Salisbury Street/U.S. Hwy. 74 over Banks Channel and then connects back to Causeway Drive/U.S. Hwy. 76.

The loop is commonly used for walking, biking, jogging and skating. Whether you want to get some fresh air and exercise or you just want to enjoy the scenic beauty of the island, the loop is a well-loved fixture of Wrightsville Beach. The loop is also a great place to walk your four-legged friends (just make sure you pick up after them or you could be fined $250!)
