August is a month of mixed feelings for most students. While they’re saying farewell to their summer jobs and carefree days at the beach, they’re looking forward to the start of a new semester and furthering their academic careers. Although warm summer weather usually extends well into September here in Wilmington, the annual UNCW Beach Blast offers students one last beach party before hitting the books in August.

This year’s UNCW Beach Blast will take place on August 21, 2012 at Wrightsville Beach. The usual spot for the festivities is along the shore near the Crystal Pier (the stretch between beach accesses #35 and #38). Set up for the event will begin at 7 a.m. and the fun will continue through 3 p.m.

In addition to offering fun, sun and surf, the annual Beach Blast also offers a chance for students to get to know the community and sometimes even lend a helping hand. Past events have coincided with free surf camps from various surfing schools in the area as well as ECO Beach Sweeps, making sure no trash is left behind.

If you’re a UNCW student, don’t miss out on this awesome community event, organized just for you!
