Explore The History of Wrightsville Beach

Wrightville Beach Museum

During your next trip to our beautiful island take a stroll through the beach town as it once was with a visit to the Wrightsville Beach Museum of History. Learn about the town’s origins, early residents, and how road and railroad access from Wilmington brought the island to life.

One of the most fascinating things to look back on is the impressive Lumina – a public pavilion right on the ocean. Pictures depict crowds of visitors enjoying the water, dancing, and social events in the great hall.

The Museum will also give you a glimpse into the challenges the town has overcome, including Hurricane Hazel’s devastation in 1954, and the Great Fire in 1934.

You can find The Wrightsville Beach Museum of History at 303 W Salisbury St on Wrightsville Beach. Hours are 10 am – 4 pm Tuesday – Friday, 12 – 5 pm on Saturday, and 1 – 5 pm on Sunday. Admission is free. Learn more by calling 910-256-2569 or at wbmuseum.com.
