Don’t Miss Fire on the Dock – February 18th – March 13th, 2013

In the near future, Wilmington foodies will have the opportunity to sample and judge fare from some of the state’s most creative and innovative chefs. As part of the statewide competition, “Got to be NC,” Wilmington is one of 6 cities where the chefs will convene and vie for the coveted “Red Chef Jacket,” $2000 and the chance to progress to the final round, which takes place in Raleigh in November.

The Iron-Chef style contest is set for February 18th through March 13th. With the stunning Intracoastal Waterway as a backdrop, the “Fire on the Dock” competition will be held each evening at 7pm at The Bluewater Grill in Wrightsville Beach. For each day of the 24-day competition, two chefs will go head to head as they prepare 3 courses each. The twist is that daily at noon, prior to the competition, a secret NC ingredient will be revealed. Each chef is then responsible for incorporating it into each course. For just $59, diners will have the pleasure of sampling and savoring all 6 courses. Each competitor will prepare 3 courses and the dinner guests will be served without knowing which chef created which course or the secret ingredient. At the end of the evening, the diners decide who moves to the next round.

Please be aware that reservations should be made early. For the semi-final and final for each region, tickets are $69. Also, please note that beverages and sales tax are not included.

Other North Carolina cities hosting this “Competition Dining Series” are:
