Wrightsville Beach, NC plays host to a charity kayak fishing tournament on July 30, 2011. The event is sponsored by Hook, Line, and Paddle, a local Wrightsville Beach canoe and kayak shop, and benefits Alzheimer’s North Carolina, specifically honoring Mr. Terrance Jackson Meddock who lost his battle with Alzheimer’s in 2002.
This is the Third Annual TJM Charity Kayak Fishing Tournament and it is open to the public as well as celebrities who wish to participate for a great cause. There are prizes for category winners as well as silent auction and raffle items. Canoe, kayak, and paddleboard owners who participate in the event will have a chance to show off their boats in a fishing kayak and paddleboard show at weigh-in.
Kayaking and Paddleboarding in Wrightsville Beach are a huge pastime for many residents, visitors, and neighbors as well as big business for retail shops and water sports organizations. Wrightsville Beach offers the best of two worlds with kayak / paddleboarding and fishing.
