Beach 2 Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon, Wrightsville Beach

Are you ready for a unique athletic challenge? Experience everything this waterfront community has to offer while competing with other athletes and pushing yourself to the finish line with the annual PPD Beach2Battleship triathlon.

This internationally recognized iron distance and half iron distance triathlon attracts competitors from across the state, country and even the world. Named one of the top 5 iron distance triathlons in the world by Triathlete Magazine, the Beach2Battleship entails running, bicycling and swimming.

This year’s event will take place on October 20, 2012 and will begin at Wrightsville Beach.

Here’s a look at the distances for Iron and Half Iron:

Swim Course – Wrightsville Beach
Iron Distance: 2.4 miles
Cut-Off Time: 2 hours, 20 minutes
Half Iron Distance: 1.2 mile
Cut-Off Time: 1 hour, 30 minutes

Bike Course – Through Wrightsville Beach and North Wilmington
Iron Distance: 112 mile
Cut-Off Time: 10 hours, 15 minutes (cumulative from start of swim)
Half Iron Distance: 56 mile
Cut-Off Time: 5 hours, 45 minutes (cumulative from start of swim)

Run Course – Start at Wilmington Convention Center through Downtown Wilmington
Iron Distance: 6.55 mile (two loops)
Cut-Off Time: 17 hours (cumulative from start of swim)
Half Iron Distance: 6.55 mile (one loop)
Cut-Off Time: 9 hours (cumulative from start of swim)
