A much-loved surfing tradition, The Wrightsville Beach Wahine Classic is back for another year, featuring female surfers from ages 5 to 65.
The 2015 event will be held August 15 and 16th at the Oceanic restaurant beach access. Hosted by the Crystal South Surf Camp and its leader Jo Pickett, this all-female surfing contest is known for its wide range of age divisions, including the ever-popular Teenie Wahine division for girls 10 and under.
The Wahine Classic highlights professional, amateur, shortboard and longboard divisions as well as the newer SUP surf division, which sees a growing field of competitors each year. Either as a spectator or a competitor, the Wahine Classic is a great way to inspire a young woman you know to embrace Wrightsville Beach’s most popular sport.
