30th Annual Holiday Flotilla – November 29-30, 2013

It’s time to make plans for one of Wrightsville Beach’s most popular holiday traditions! 2013 marks the 30th anniversary of the Holiday Flotilla and the excitement is building. In fact, there are only a handful of spots left for creative boat captains and their crews who’d like to decorate their vessels and dazzle the crowds. Last year’s number of estimated onlookers was 50,000!

As always, the fun gets underway on Friday evening, November 29th at 7 pm, with the Atlantic Marine Holiday Launch Party at the Blockade Runner Beach Resort, the Flotilla’s Host sponsor. Tickets for this event are $25 and admission is open to the public. It certainly promises to be a fun evening, and will include heavy hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and live music by the Craig Woolard Band.

On Saturday, November 30th, get to the island early, and claim your spot! It’s easy to spend the day here and be sure to stop by Festival in the Park, which takes place from 10 am until 4 pm. The festival has become almost as popular as the Holiday Flotilla and is a great place to purchase handmade craft items, photography, art, and other holiday gifts. This year’s festival will include a large play area for children with several inflatable slides, bouncey houses, a coloring contest, the Arab Choo Choo, festival food, an antique car show, and over 100 arts and craft vendors.

At 6 pm the main event begins and culminates with one of the most outstanding fireworks shows in the southeast. For updated details, including this year’s prizes, judges, and special accommodations packages from the Blockade Runner Beach Resort, please use this link: www.ncholidayflotilla.org.
