Waterman Ocean Festival Set for April 16th-19th

A variety of activities are planned for the second annual Waterman Ocean Festival. The fun gets underway at the Wrightsville Beach History Museum on Thursday, April 16th and continues through Sunday, April 19th. The festival was created to acknowledge those individuals who have worked tirelessly to promote water sports along the beaches, channels and waterways of Wrightsville Beach. The festival is also aimed at conservation and spotlighting the recreational options along the area’s coastal waters.

The first annual SUP Surfing Pro-Am will be the main event. Registration is set for Friday afternoon at the Oceanic Pier and the competition will be held either Saturday or Sunday, depending on the surf. To add to the excitement, the individual who has the highest combined finishes in the Wrightsville Beach Pro-Am and the Carolina Cup will be presented with the 2015 “All-Waterman” trophy. For those interested in honing their skills, there will be an SUP workshop on Sunday on the north side of the Oceanic Pier.
