22nd Annual River to Sea Bike Ride, Wrightsville Beach NC

The 22nd Annual River to Sea Bike Ride will take place on Saturday, May 7, 2011.  Starting at the foot of Market Street at the Riverwalk in downtown Wilmington, the casually-paced River to Sea bike ride follows neighborhood residential streets, off-road multi-use paths, and a few busy arterial roadways as it makes it way to Wrightsville Beach Park and back again.  

This event is 20 miles round trip with refreshments provided at Wrightsville Beach Park. Registration is at 8:00am, ride starts at 8:30am. Refreshments and drawing for prizes will be at Wrightsville Beach at 10:00am. There is a trolly option for returning to downtown Wilmington. No pre-registration necessary.

This ride is a great way to explore the area and get a perspective on history, as this bike route follows the Historic Beach Car Line which carried vacationers from downtown Wilmington to Wrightsville Beach by trolley, according to RiverToSeaBikeway.com. The River to Sea Bike Ride is also a great way to connect with other riders in the area and spend a Saturday morning outdoors on your bike.
